Demo Applications

Here are some eComet applications written by the development staff at Signature Systems, Inc. These programs -- and dozens more -- are featured in the eComet tutorial.

Million record data base Take a walk through our million record data base. Our sample inventory file contains 1,000,000 records (more than 200MB of data). This demo program lets you search by item number, select the first, last, next, or previous record, and look ahead at the next group of records in the file. Notice how quickly the eComet system responds to your requests.

Loan payment calculator You provide the loan amount, the interest rate, and the term of a loan. Our demo program computes the monthly payment amount. It also displays the complete amortization table for the loan.

Shopping cart Want to visit our make-believe store? This demo program shows how easy it is to create a shopping cart using eComet and the Internet Basic language. Get ready to go shopping...

Comet dealer locator Here's a useful program that shows all of the Comet dealers. You can search by dealer name, select the first, last, next, or previous record, and look ahead at the next group of records in the file.

Java and eComet This demo program reads data from a Comet file and merges it with a web page that contains a Java applet. The result is a dynamic bar chart. (This Java applet, written by Sun Microsystems, is available free-of-charge.)

These demo programs, and all of the programs in the eComet tutorial, are written in Signature's Internet Basic compiler language and powered by eXtended Active Pages (XAP) technology. The source code for all of these programs is available in the tutorial.
These demo programs are running on Signature's eComet server in Santa Rosa, California. This same machine runs Signature's web server, e-mail server, and FTP server.
